2003 Alpenlite Portofino Villa. No outside damage, but inside some trim and luan popped and ripped. But it was all in cabinets or the closet. We patched it up. I am really grateful to have been able to make it because actually I can’t figure out why it didn’t break all the way. I now realize it started thousands of miles back, but I didn’t realize what was happening until the night I left it hooked to the truck and saw the closet panels separated from the floor. I had blown the running lights fuse quite a few days before and couldn’t trace it down because it was completely in the framework of the trailer. I replaced the fuse, and it eventually blew too. When we found this broken beam I knew what the problem was, because I remembered that the front lower running lights had their wiring that ran out of the metal beam and through the side wall to the light screwed to the outside. I had to repair one a few years back and got a good look down in the wiring hole because I had to fish out the wires. So what was blowing the fuse was the frame going up and down sheared the wires to the passenger side and shorted them against the frame. So after everything was back together I took that running light apart and indeed the wires were cut in two. Everything is working now. And yes, I believe genuine relationships with family and friends is the best social security there is.
