since their supposed to be used on trucks, not trailers. LTs also have more flexible sidewalls than STs.
LOL;
Internet myth at its best.
Actually ST sidewall stiffness is a compromise between the P and LT so one ST tire maker old website add says
Ever see and inspect a cutaway section that Goodyear has/had for customers to see differences in tires construction. I have.
Depending on how much credence you put in the Trailer Life writing staff, they said in a recent issue that ST tires have stiffer sidewalls than LT tires.
C'mon....get real...:R
TL "writing staff" is you or me - or whomever "they" decide submits an article "they" like - and is favorable/acceptable to/for their advertisers.
Do a good job with "basic" information, and follow the guidelines of "no negatives" - and you might be a paid contributor also...;)
(And yes - "we" do have a member from RV Net who has/does have had articles in TL - although nothing to do with tires. That's FE's bailiwick, LOL!)
The very few regular TL tech writers follow the same basic guidelines.

Back to the OP.....
Michelin designates XPS Ribs (an LT) for use on trailers.
Several "upscale" trlr mfgrs equip their products with LT tires.
Tire store employees (and managers) are like RV salesman:
Follow the company -or tire mfgr- guidelines and SELL TIRES..:S
End of story.
