My feelings are different than most of your other replies. We have a 35' Montana High Country 12,500 gross weight that we pull with a RAM 2500 diesel very comfortably. I can't imagine staying in a smaller 5er for very long for the 2 of us old folks much less 3 of you. We have not experienced problems finding camping sites because of the size. Look for something to give some privacy between you and your son, a bunk house sounds nice. If you buy used get a very good tech to inspect the unit for water leaks in the roof and walls. We had to trade off our tt when we found damage to a wall from a leak. The weight police on here may say you have to have a 1 ton but a RAM2500 can tow 12,500 very nicely and with a legal pin weight.
