When we were looking at moving from a pick up camper to a 5er we tried to stay under 30' but we ended up shopping a particular floor plan and the model said 28RK but the rig is close to 33' tip to tip.
Pulling up adds in RVTrader and CL, my wife would bring up the length so I would just hold my arms out like I was measuring a fish as say it's only this much longer...
She found the 28RK online about 3 hours away from the Portland area and didn't have an issue with the size but she was surprised when I revealed the actual length.
If you have a style in mind then you should shop in a large area to see what can be had as well as learning about the different options that will be important to you, I hear the old folks around the Yuma area have what they call a lemon lot, not really lemons but lots of deals on RV's that became too large to drive back home for some older people so lots of trades to shop.
