comfort is really a matter of how well the living space is arranged, not how big it is. As a general rule I think you will find that for every foot over about 30' you will loose available camping sites. At 40' you pool of available sites will be drastically reduced to newer resort type parks.
X2! THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE is the FLOOR PLAN. That is how does the rig's layout and amenities fit your lifestyle and expectations. It really has nothing to do with just size. Does the kitchen layout make it easy to cook? Can you comfortably sit and relax, do you watch TV, or do you prefer to look outside at nature? Does the bathroom make it easy to due your hair, shave, etc? Do you have enough storage for Your things? All these things go into making a good floor plan, for you! Everyone has different tastes, and requirements that suits your lifestyle. There is no sense in paying big bucks, only to find out that this or that makes you uncomfortable. Look and research many different rigs in your price range until you find what will make you happy, if it happens to be a big 40+ footer, then you will be excluded from some sites, but at least you will be comfortable! And oh BTW, even if you get a big rig, remember that you still can take "day" trips to the wild wilderness if that's what you want to do, sans rig though!
