Good post so far good answers--- and I'll tell you my story for what it's worth.
I'm on my third fifth wheel now ,I just bought a 38 foot with 3 slides. My previous fifth wheel was 29--30 with only one slide ---it was a perfect size to get into campgrounds state parks little places like that ---big enough for what I wanted, but still small enough to get into small kind of places .
that being said it did not have the room or the layout I wanted
it was a rear kitchen with one slide----My current new to me fifth wheel is 38 foot ,and I know there's at least three campgrounds that I used to go to that I will not be able to get into ---but I'm at the point now where I'm looking to the future of spending more time in it---- and I wanted the room .
I have a rear living room with a big picture window ,opposing slides ,recliner chairs a sleeper sofa in one of the slides( recliners by the picture window )....a desk fireplace table chairs and the slide out in the bedroom is a king slide!!!
It is Mid kitchen it works great--- I love it !!!
Looked for 2 years to find just the right rig.

One thing to keep in mind if you do get an on-board generator that they do use a lot of propane--- but if you get a gas -- then you gotta figure out hauling gas in store and things like that --so things to think about.
