The only way you will know how the combo tows is hook up and go and the only way you will know how much pin weight is lost is get the trucks separate axles weights before and after.

Sounds like the friend knows his business however 800 lbs hanging off the back of a trailer is a bunch of weight and can cause sway/handling issues. ST D tires will wallow like a drunk hog on ice
Load E tires at 80 psi will help with carcass roll/sway issues.
