At one time I called a RV dealer and got the name of an individual who did their towing for them. He was reasonable, insured, licensed.

Thanks everyone for their suggestions !! May have the initial problem solved I spoke to the shop where our truck is being serviced, they promised me it would be ready Monday... But keeping the info provided by everyone handy !!!

My vote is for uship, if your repair shop doesn't work out.

Long story short, broke my truck, stranded couple hundred miles from home.

Posted an ad on uship, got a guy to trailer my truck home for $550., delivered right to my door.

Buddy of mine drove a couple hundred miles from the other direction, hooked on to the TT, and dragged it home for me. Got home last night.

If that didn't happen I was going to post an ad on uship for that too.

If you do wind up having someone tow it, make sure they have commercial insurance that covers you (or check with our insurance to see what is needed to keep you covered).

$1000 is a bit high but with short notice and short distance, your per mile is going to be higher than someone towing 1000 miles.
