Fellow Canadian, slow down. As someone who regularly encounters wildlife (yes even on I5) I can say FOR SURE I would have had a major crash going 10mph faster than 65. I've also come across aluminum ladder across 2 lanes around a blind corner (Siskyous) and tons of inattentive car drivers who really dont care that it takes longer for you to brake than their civic and will dive in front of you. Without the time to react you are doomed. If by interior route you mean 97 there are long stretches where you could be waiting for help for a long time. Upgrade your tires - sure - but for reliability - not to run faster .
