Tires do not fail simply because of the zip code of the plant or because the building was painted blue rather than green. This is Science not magic.
I would expect that answer from a company man. It is obvious that ST tires have a significantly high failure rate. It's one of three things - 1) the zip code, 2) the Engineer, or 3) the Engineer trying to make excuses for the zip code.
I really feel the pain for the guys out there that have to baby those ST tires and still suffer blowouts and trailer damage, only to find out they are going to catch the blame anyway by the tire manufacturer.
You are right. Even though the company I worked for doesn't make or sell ST type tires and even though over 55% of RVs have documented tire overload and even though we all see guys towing faster than 65 I must have intentionally designed the tires that go on the overloaded, fast, low inflation TT. I also make the polyester melt at less than 50% of its normal melting point by waiving my magic wand. I still have problems making the inner and outer sidewall wear on all tires not just on the ones that fail, but I'm working on that.
