All good points, nothing could ever be the tire companies fault, they only manufacture junk if there is a market. Come to think of it, what real purpose does a ST 235/80R/16 LRE with a 3500 lb capacity have it its not to go on a 5th wheel with 7K axles? I don't recall the capacity rating for the tire have a footnote that explains a required safety margin. What possible market was the tire manufacturer after? - utility trailers?
The only real solution is to refuse the ST tire on new rigs, and convert any you have to tire swings immediately. Maybe then the tire companies will get a clue that they better put some credibility and reliability into the ST tire (along with bring it back to our home zip code), or there really won't be a market for them beyond utility trailers.
