"Please tell me what part of the major tire manufacturer selection chart for a trailer explains this? Marathon I am an Engineer and I write specifications and I see no warnings in here that would lead me to another tire other than Marathon. In fact, for a fifth wheel only the Marathon and G614 are recommended."I find a clear statement of 65mph max in the linked "RV Tire Care Guide" pg 9 and for larger tires on pg 10, 11 & 16

"Not according to the tire manufacturers Dealers! LT tires do not dissipate heat like an ST tire and are therefore not suitable for....blah blah, I'm sure you know the story, FE says it all the time" I have never seen data that supports this claim and other than the shallower tread depth on ST type tires I know of no magic rubber that is not more of an insulator than conductor.
FE has his opinions. He seems to have educated himself in the various DOT Regulatory documents.

"Let them complain - that's what I mean by being proactive. Aren't you getting tired of warrantying them, investigating them (maybe that is your bread and butter, I don't know)? When keystone started putting heavier axles on their larger fleet in late 2006 (7K axles), the only US tire made that would meet the load range was a G614 - but wait..within 6 months the Goodyear Marathon line expanded with new heaver load capacities and larger tire sizes to accommodate, and soon the other manufacturers followed suit - tell me that isn't the Tire Manufacturer always looking out for themselves. What exactly do you think their intended market was? Snowmobile trailers?." What is the warranty on tires from the RV company? When you have a problem with tires they send you to the tire company. A number of tire importers have no dealer network so it makes it almost impossible for an owner to file warranty complaint. Few RV owners are willing to file actionable complaints with NHTSA so there is no one watching the chicken house. GY may have made some changes to their tires to make them tolerate the poor maintenance from owners. I don't do warranty claims. I do forensic analysis. Many times warranty is just a matter of keeping the customer happy and even when there is nothing wrong with the tire someone decides a partial credit is sufficient.

"I understand exactly where to find the maximum speed on the tire, but you said 50 mph! Most ST tires at least say 65, and I truly believe that given discussion on this forum, most of these rigs never see anything over 65, yet the maypop strikes even the most conservative."Passenger tires are rated for 99 and up but never see much above 70. Car companies could select 75 mph speed rating but choose not to. I don't know where you travel but I have seen many TT pass me at well over 65. Others have posted similar sightings.

"I don't know the reason and I'm not convinced you do either. Your science seems to be bias to your company, and I understand that - we all need to get paid, but I have no bias and science works for me until it just doesn't pass the ho-ho test, then I start looking for errors with the application of the science. You will never convince me that ST tire failure is directly related to owner abuse. They are defective by nature and should be removed from the market entirely for anything beyond a 12" wheel." If you bothered to read my posts where I cover the details of the steps of doing Forensic analysis you would see the science. Lets just talk Polyester melting point. I have covered this fact a number of times. My working for a tire company does not change the melting temperature of
Polyester from 493°F or the physical property of shrinking away from high heat.
I take offense that you think I would invent excuses that are not based on physical evidence. My reports were submitted to engineers at GM, Ford, BMW, Subaru, Mazda, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Chrysler, Porsche and others. What possibly makes you think they would accept unsubstantiated analysis? Especially when they start off asking "Why is your tire defective". Of all the cases I worked on I do not recall ever having my conclusion rejected by the customer. There were times they did not like what the report said but they never were able to provide an alternate conclusion
Now maybe you are just a Conspiracy Theorist who thinks anyone working for any company will lie for the company. If that's your position.
We are finished here. Good luck to you and your fellow conspiracy theorists.
