Need to replace 72" x 80" RV King Mattress

Thanks Michelle. Yes, we have an RV King - not a Cal King. We would have to lift the bed to close the slide if it was any longer. I have no intention of doing that. 72x80 would be perfect. With radius corners.

Word of caution on the Calf King, they are usually 84" long and may give a problem depending on your bedroom layout, North-South vs East-West. We replaced ours with the King Sleep number with the radius corners at the foot of the bed, 72 X 80 and since we have an East-West bed with a slide, anything longer would pose a problem.

Will look into sleep number. I am worried about weight but would love a good foam mattress like we have at home.

I replaced my original mattress with a Sleep Number RV King. It has radius corners on the foot end just like my original and it is lighter. I looked into the mattress factory route and it would have worked well and as was previously posted, the cost for modifications was minimal. The problem was this mattress would have weighed over 90 pounds. I didn't want that much more weight in the front of my 5'er, not to mention wrestling it into position. I would have had to replace the gas struts on my bed platform also.

The Sleep Number bed works great. The RV King Sleep Number is only available from Camping World. Catalog Item # 52685.

Would I buy the Sleep Number again? No question YES, but then I full time and cost is no object for something I sleep on 365 nights a year.

Look for California King. That's the name for that size and also buy sheets that say California King.

Went to a mattress shop in Tucson and had one made 72 X 78. Custom is no problem...cost was about the same as normal 78 X 80.

When we needed a new Mattress for our Hurricane, we went to a local Mattress Factory. We picked a mattress style we liked, and they custom rebuilt it for the RV bed. Made it shorter, and put additional support on the edges where we would sit to dress and such. Perfect fit, and as I remember, the charge for customising was very slight. The salesman-manager also had an RV, and knew exactly what we needed and hot to do it. The finished product looked exactly like the original, with no extra seams or mismarks visible. The extra supports were something we had not thought of, but proved to be a real great idea. Even if you have to drive a bit to find a factory, it is well worth the effort.

Camping World has this well reviewed mattress, Serta has 3 mattresses here. Not only used in RVs, this size King is widely used by hotels and several are available at this retailer.
