I am thinking about buying a 2017 3500 dodge ram. What do I need to do to transfer my hatch over to that truck.

Highly recommend getting the factory installed Ram OEM 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Towing Prep Group option. For $400 you get an in-bed, 5th wheel "puck" system, gooseneck crossmember, in-bed 7-pin connector, and a "smooth", rail-free bed. A bargain for $400. Would cost $1000-$1500 aftermarket, plus you'd have to put up with rails running across the bed.
