Well I didn't get to the scale today but I did manage to lower the hitch and pull some measurements. Looks like I'm right at 2" off front to back now. It still looks really nose high when you see it from a distance but it actually measures real close. That would've put in around 5" high in the pics I posted, just looks like a lot more. Two inches I can live with and I've still got around 7-8" bed clearance.
Did you mount the sides like I posted earlier?
I did but opted not to move them forward. The tailgate clearance would have got tight with anything other than perfectly straight.
I mistakenly thought the rear setting was directly over the axle, I know now it puts it two inches rear of it. I'm going to move it full forward like you suggested and live with the tight tailgate trade off. Per the scale weights with it like that I was removing approx. 200lbs off the front axle and I was REAL close to RAWR, hopefully that'll change moving it forward 4".
As far as the trailer itself, I got a more accurate measurement of 3" off front to back but more importantly the two trailer axles were around 800lbs off and the garage was empty minus 40 gallons of fuel at the tail end.
I've got 7-8 inches clearance as it sits, 7 being at the tailgate, 8 at the front cap. Pin box looks like 2" increments. If I go up a notch on the box that SHOULD leave me real close to 6". I'm thinking that's the best I can shoot for before getting a lift involved.
It's back at the dealer now getting a second awning installed so I've got some time to think about the next step. Might have them raise the box while it's there.
