In my original post I wrote that the hitch weight was 1795 lbs and the unloaded weight of the trailer was 9635 lbs. I took this off of a spec sheet when I bought the trailer. As a percentage, it's 18.6%. Wouldn't the manufacturer design these rigs to fall into the optimum weight distribution ratios?
I called Andersen yesterday and they acknowledged that it is a common problem that can be improved through a process of elimination. Unfortunately, some of the possible cures can be very expensive and may not give the desired results. A good example is from Gary153 response: he's been fighting it for 1.5 years and has tried almost everything suggested here and still has the problem! My last rig was a 2016 31' bumper pull travel trailer and it didn't 'chuck' at all. I'm starting to wish I had it back. I've had some great input here but there are so many conflicting opinions - one guy says try this...the next guy says that won't do anything! My mechanical side tells me that rear suspension air bags on my truck won't change this condition. To me it's not an up and down motion, it's a back and forth jerking. Air bags might improve a lot of things but I don't see how it could effect back and forth jerking.
