My question is when running air conditioner should it be in economy mode? I tried it both ways and both sounds as if it will take the load. Thanks for the reply's.

You can also install a hard start capacitor on the A/C to help with the load on the genny. One of the things I like about some of the Yamahas is that they have a "burst" capability, where they actually pull power from the starting battery for about 10 seconds, when an extra load is demanded...like when starting an A/C.
