New flooring in the Desert fox..

Been away from the site for a while so I figured with RV season closing in I should get my priorities straight and post something...
It's project time once again, and probably the last mod or repair on my toy hauler before she goes up for sale to make way for a new bunk house trailer.
So a small soft spot on the floor just inside my entrance door has been irking me since last summer when I rebuilt the entire front of the toy hauler... The leak was fixed and the insulation pulled from the under side to allow the area to dry, but I have been putting off the repair because I just didn't want to pull up the linoleum... Well enough is enough, it's finally time to pull up the flooring and finish the job.... Instead of buying new linoleum I have decided to go with a gray checker plate style PVC garage flooring. Ya, I know I could have just repaired the small area without replacing the entire floor but where is the fun in that. Besides, the old flooring had some scrapes and stains (really not that noticeable), and I am convincing myself that it was worn out..lol.
Well, that's it for now, should be installed by the end of the week, weather permitting... I will put up a few pics of the project once I have finished...
Here is a link to the flooing I am installing.

  • Here is a couple pic's from yesterday... TV installed and all of the camping gear, trim and D rings removed from the floor.

  • Our flooring is jacked up too, mostly towards the ramp...Stains, tears, rips. I fixed the rips with contact cement. I gave alot of thought about replacing the flooring, but Diana cinvinced me that the same thing will happen to the new floor in time, so we bought a new carpet kit, fit perfectly and hides the bad spots in the floor while were camping. We really never camp without the carpet so its a win- win for us, looks real nice and its comfy.
  • Got started on the project today, I think I saw a squirrel part way through the day and installed a wall mount and TV/DVD combo that I bought last season. That project turned out really nice and of course I had to test it out so I watched 2012 while emptying out the camping gear and started work on the floor..lol.
The tie downs were a pain to get out, killed one brand new impact bit. All of the trim is out and tomorrow morning I will run a knife around the perimeter of the floor and carefully take out the old linoleum so that I can use it for a pattern.
  • I have already got the 9' x 20' roll sitting in the garage waiting for my days off..
As for the bathroom, I replaced the entire floor and front wall due to a leak last year. It was an easy job istalling the flooring as everything was removed and I was able to lay the new vinyl in one piece... Looked like a factory install when I was done.
I should post a few of those pics as well.
  • My Weekend Warrior had some flooring wear in the high traffic areas (it bothered me every time I stepped inside). Instead of peeling everything up, I overlayed the floor with vinyl tiles. It was surprising square compared to a similar project I had done at home but did take some artful carving in the bathroom around the toilet. If you have uneven surfaces, you will need to use some leveling material prior to laying tiles but this not not something I had to deal with.
  • Looking forward to seeing pics and hearing how the project goes.
