We have 2 6 volt golf cart batteries and a 1000 watt inverter. In 90 degree heat, it takes about 3 hours to get the fridge to proper temp and we still have 2/3 battery power left. Once we plug in to the truck, the charge from the truck keeps the batteries from dropping any lower on a trip allowing plenty of power to run the disc brake pump, etc.
As others have said, if unopened, the fridge will stay cold enough for hours during travel.....just depends on how hot it is outside.
If you don't boondock, I see no issue with the residential.
I hated the Norcold in our 2014 Lifestyle that I pulled it out and replaced it with a residential Samsung only after 6 months. BEST upgrade I have ever done on any RV. Phillip
