New Hitch
If I were to buy a new hitch of a different brand, would it fit on the rails already installed to my truck bed? Basically, are the rails universal for 5th wheel hitches?

There are several that share the same bed rail design and set-up. Example: I just replaced our Reese 20K hitch, with a Trailer Save. A drop-in swap.... except for the tractor needed to lift out the Trailer Saver. Man....is that thing heavy!
