Maybe this should have been on the towing forum but wasn’t sure. My wife has fallen in love with this Front Living Jayco Pinnacle But I’m a little worried about the weight. UVW is about 14,400 and Pin weight is around 3000. I have a 2017 F-350 SB with the 6.7 Diesel. I guess what I would like to know and hear is from people that tow this weight with a single wheel Diesel truck and their likes or dislikes. I would definitely be adding airbags to my truck. Thanks

I wouoldn't pay much attention to UVW, rather look at the GVWR. That will give you a closer guess at the actual weight you'll be hauling. I'm betting pin weight will be closer to 3500 lbs.

I think your actual pin will be north of 4K and I agree w/ fj12 about disregarding the UVW and what is the max GVW instead.Perhaps to give you a comparison: We had a '15 F350 SB, CC, 4x4, 6.7 and thought that would be our last truck thinking it's a 1 ton w/ some hefty ratings. Spring of '17 we upgraded RV to one in sig. Advertised pin was 2,888 and dry weight of 13,420, max GVW of 16,000. Weighed it as soon as we got it and it netted: Pin 2860, dry was 14,000.I'm just a whisker under 11500 on the truck and 22500 on the combo....again empty.Fully loaded for week vaykay (nobody in truck) netted: Pin of 3740, combo: 24470, truck rear axle: 7360 (capacity (7000), total weight on truck: 12350. So you can see, I'm over on everything. Ran it all of 2017 w/ no problems. 2018, we decide to make FL our summer trip and now the overage is really starting to nag at me....especially the trucks tires (3460 each capacity). Taking into account of already being over on things, heat generated as things are, higher air and road temps, we ended up getting a dually. Didn't want to, but will say, it made for a much more comforting trip. Wife even said she liked how it towed compared to old SRW truck.Another thing to consider is stopping ability w/ a SRW and 5er. Had a cousin who bought a Montana front LR when they 1st came out in early 2000's, Had a SRW GM and said stopping things was a challenge. They bought a med duty GM which took care of that.I don't know the ratings of Fords SRW alum body trucks, but IMO, I think you would be better off w/ a dually for this coach. My $.02

I totally agree with ACZL; a dually is much better suited for that trailer. I'm on my second dually truck and will not go back to SRW for towing large fifth wheels. :)

My 5er loaded is just under 14K lbs. 3060 lb pin weight.I have about 300lbs of axle weight remaining.So, your choice with a weight of 14K dry and 3K pin weight dry, you're in DRW territory for sure.Mike

DRW with that one unless you pack VERY light. It is technically possible to stay within your numbers but it would be really a PITA.I'm not so on board with the "just go by GVWR" thing. It's a # on a tag. It doesn't mean you WILL load to it (or even stop once you get there for that matter). Mainly, I don't like the theory because CCCs (difference between dry weight and GVWR) vary vastly depending on frame size, axle size and other factors. I once had a 26' TT with a CCC of 4700# putting the GVWR at 11,000# for a 6300# dry trailer. Was I supposed to buy a truck to haul 11,000# just because of a sticker on the door?Many of you act as though it's impossible to just weigh what you put into the RV. It's really not that difficult to determine what YOU travel with an plan accordingly.

I would chose a F450 dually over a F350 dually. The F350 dually is an add-on for a F350 SRW. The F450 is design as a dually-- Frame, springs, brakes and etc.

BTY the new F350 SRW will pull that trailer with ease.

Our Mountaineer runs a 2800# pin weight. With the 11400 GVWR on our 2005 3500 DRW we were very close loaded. When we bought the new truck an 18 SRW 3500 would have carried the load. However why buy a new truck that will just do the job. Get a DRW truck!

No such beast exists - 350/3500 come with choice or SRW or DRW. Everything above is DRW, everything below is SRW.

Every situation varies, but maybe this will help. Our trailer has a GVWR of 14,500. Fully loaded (full tank of diesel, wife, 2 teenagers, 2 dogs, full fresh water tank) we were 20 pounds over the GVWR of our truck (2013 F350 SRW). That Pinnacle is at our GVWR without even putting anything in it.

Maybe have your wife look at our floor plan. Very similar to a front living room.

**Edit, our dry weight was 12,280 (5574KG).

if you want to spend the money go for it. but, your F350 will pull it just fine.

I think most of the Pinnacle line should be towed with a dually.

I had a 41' Sierra (14K lbs) before the Pinnacle, and had a SB SRW F-350 at the time. It was night & day different when I got the dually!! Much more stable!!
