We bought new.
We weren't sure if the RV lifestyle would suit us or not... however we were pretty sure we would enjoy it... and we wanted to try camping and living in a 5th wheel that met are exact needs and requirements. I remember someone on this forum say "Buy your 2nd fiver First"... made a lot of sense to me. We shopped for about a year and found what we were looking for.
We planned on camping all summer... June - August, throughout the North West states. I figured if I rented an RV for the entire summer it would cost me no more than the 1st year depreciation on a new 5th wheel. If we didn't completely enjoy our summer adventure we would sell the 5th wheel and be out the same cost as if we had rented an RV for 3 months.
We picked up our new fiver the 1st week in June... and used it continuously for the next 3 months... loved it!
I feel we got a great deal on a higher quality rig that will last us for many years with no hidden surprises or defects and a 2 year warranty.
We could have spent a lot less money on a used trailer but I doubt we would have found one with the exact features and options we ordered on our new model.
We got exactly what we wanted without any compromises and a fifth wheel we'll be happy with for a long time.
