We bought our first one used and IMO that is the smart thing to do for several reasons:
You take that huge bite of depreciation the first year or so.
Most of the repairs that needed to be done the first couple years are done.
Any problems have been worked out and taken care of.
If you do your homework, and with a little luck, you will end up with a very good unit at much less than you would spend for the same thing brand new.
We bought our present unit new because there were no toyhaulers out that would do what we wanted, so we have been the ones to fix the 1st year issues.
IMO if you don't need something special then used is the way to go.
