- Michelle_SExplorer IIIWhen we had aTT and Gas TV we always turned the fridge off while refueling. Never know when some idiot might overfill and splash gas around, why take the chance.
Once we moved up to Diesel and started fueling in the Truck Lanes don't worry about it any more. - laknoxNomadAnd a lot of people say they turn their fridges off at gas stations. So, you're filling with diesel, and an "open flame" is at least 20' away, much further than the car filling with gas on the other side of the island. Makes =so= much sense...NOT!
Lyle - Splashers3ExplorerWE also run ours on propane for longer trips, and yes, we have stopped to verify the propane is off before entering certain tunnels...sometimes they actually check, and sometimes they take my word for it.
- jdc1Explorer II30+ years....always with the fridge on propane. Never been asked to shut it off at a gas station or tunnel. Water heater and furnace are a different story. Leave them off.
- Sandia_ManExplorer IILike others we also run our fridge on propane while underway to our next destination. On shorter trips of 3 hours or less we often have fridge off as it is pre-chilled and keeps items plenty cold until we arrive to our site, ice and other freezer items are still frozen solid. We have the capability to run our fridge on AC mode via inverter while going down the road should we choose to, it is something we do not do as it can leave our batteries depleted upon arrival.
- Michelle_SExplorer IIIYep and if you don't stop for them to check that the propane is turned off, you'll be stopped at the entrance and made to pull over and have it inspected.
Don't ask how I know that. - philhExplorer IIRun it... but be aware there are a few tunnels that legally require propane to be shut off.
- KD4UPLExplorerI always ran it. All manuals for RVs I've owned state that you are supposed to run it on LP while driving. That is interesting that they have decided to tell you the opposite now.
Lawyers. - TrackrigExplorer IIRun it.
Bill - fj12ryderExplorer IIIBeen doing it for 15 years, no issues. It's 90% CYA by the builders.
