New Tires Lighten my Wallet

After the tire issue I had on our final trip of the season I knew it was time for new tires all around on the fifth wheel. I was actually overdue for new tires and I was trying to put it off until spring. The Maxxis 8008 tires I had went through a real torture test on my many trips on the crappy roads in IL, IN, and MS and they lasted 7 travel seasons…almost. I was also impressed that the tire issue I had was a steel belt breaking loose in the tire yet it didn’t cause a blowout. Today I bought a new set of Maxxis tires (235 80R 16) at $199 each, ouch. I guess I shouldn’t complain, I paid $180 each when I bought the previous set.

    which would be?

The GY ENDURANCE line of course.

Biggest problem with them, besides being so new, Is that they are Goodyear. I just don't care for Goodyear tires. Never in the last 50 years did I ever have good service from Goodyear. And yes I have had many Goodyears from the Goodyear Eagles, to the Wranglers. I will say the Wranglers were better than the Eagles.
Then of course there is the first traveltrailer tire blow out I ever had. Goodyear Marathons. So, Goodyear is not high on my list to buy.

“Besides being so new”. Is that the best you can do? Almost 5 years is not new. Maybe criticize the 8/32” thin tread.

Have you not been paying attention for the last couple years? :)

Why yes I have. and the last ST tires I bought were the best on the market. MAXXIS.

I realize that the new Endurance are supposed to be good. but they are still proving themselves. Their biggest problem is that they are made by GoodYear, and GoodYear sucks

Proving them selves? Coming up on 5 years on the market I think they have more than proven them selves.

Please show me a GY ENDURANCE non road hazard blow out.

NOT saying GY has a perfect line of tires but these are as close as you can get.

Yeah I've watched tire prices on a upward spiral the last 4-5 years. Especially any product that is oil based.
I had Discount Tire balance the tires on my truck last week. It was upper 30s day with cold rain so not many customers. The store mgr I guess wanted to talk so we had a long discussion about certain brand tires/tire tech and tire shortages.
He made the comment DT regional office says to be prepared for more price increases until tire production gets ramped back up.
This time next year you may think you got a great deal.
  • I'm very happy with my Maxxis. I have run them on two trailers and 2 boat trailers. Not even going to bother searching for GY Endurance when I replace them this spring.
