New to fifth wheel

Hello, my wife and I have been camping for awhile now. We went from a hard side pop out to a 28' class a, to a 38' DP, then down sized to a 22' bumper pull.
We are looking at a 2016 Grand design reflection 318 RST. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Tow with a 2013 reg cab 3500 swd ram long bed.
Thanks
Jim

  • I ended up getting an Open Range Light. WE have been VERY happy with it. BTW, Open Range has a factory 2 year warranty

Glad to hear what I found was wrong about GD. Sounds like they are standing behind their product.

You may have "heard" that, but I am an owner, and I must say I've never "heard" or experienced that. Grand Design bends over backwards to take care of their customers. One call to the customer service line and you're problem is usually addressed the same day.

My one year warranty expired with them in March of this year. Last month, I called them to locate the source for a broken propane tank strap. Two days later I received a replacement at no charge.

But what they did while I was under warranty exceeded all my expectations. I was having a real problem getting my dealer (Lazy Days - Tucson) to take care of some warranty repairs. I contacted Grand Design to see if they could help me. They sent a driver to Tucson, picked up my rig and took it back to the factory for service. They delivered it two weeks later and not only did they fix the warranty items, but they upgraded several features to the next model year.

I've had horrid customer service from Keystone in the past, and based on the customer service I've received from Grand Design, I'll never purchase another brand of towable RV.

  • This year, the GD 317RST has been replaced with the 318RST. The 318 has auto leveling. We liked that one but after I did the math, I found that the potential pin weight would be about 700 lbs. over my 3500's GVWR. So, we are going with the 303RLS
  • Grand Design was on the top of our list when we looked at the 317 but no auto leveling. So we bought a Primetime Crusader 315 which had it, then after we bought that I got a email from Grand design about the new 318 unless they trade straight across I'm keeping mine.
