First off thank you to everyone that has and will add comments. What fast and great responses.
Let me first add some more information. We are looking around a 28foot rear living model 5th wheel. Liking the cougars, cougar lites, and outbacks best.
Yes the truck has the b and w turn over ball. I was concerned that we would lose use of the bed of our only vechile for a year dince we plan on bring only the truck on our travels. That is why I was looking at the adapters.
So with the short bed I really do want a slider right?
Thanks for all the help

I have an '02 D'max short bed and can NOT hit my cab, either right or left, WHEN GOING FORWARD. My Komfort is very square in the front, too. ALL will hit in reverse; a slider just gives you more room before you DO hit. Now, your particular truck may have a shorter turning radius, so you =might= hit...but you might not. There are any number of people on here who freely admit to having a slider, then never using it, to the point of having them rust in place. :-) Personally, I have the T.O. Ball and Companion and love them. I also have my hitch set as high and as far forward as I can get it. GM has the longest dimension from cab to axle centerline, which helps.
This being said, the Andersen Ultimate seems to be making great inroads into the hitch market, though I'm not a fan. They make one that utilizes the TO Ball base.
As others have said, it's likely not a great idea using a GN adapter on a FW RV. Think of putting an 18" cheater on a wrench to turn a stuck bolt, and this is pretty much what you're doing to the pinbox frame. FWIW, I just towed a smaller (~25') FW from Phoenix to Durango that had a GN adapter on it. Very rough ride, not that the NM and CO roads were in any decent condition, but I could feel a definite difference in how it towed. It felt very much like I was towing my 25', triple-axle GN flatbed. It was much rougher than my 29' Komfort on the FW, for sure.
