First off thank you to everyone that has and will add comments. What fast and great responses.
Let me first add some more information. We are looking around a 28foot rear living model 5th wheel. Liking the cougars, cougar lites, and outbacks best.
Yes the truck has the b and w turn over ball. I was concerned that we would lose use of the bed of our only vechile for a year dince we plan on bring only the truck on our travels. That is why I was looking at the adapters.
So with the short bed I really do want a slider right?
Thanks for all the help

If your concern is based around being able to remove the hitch and store it while you're camping (as you might do if you were full-timing), then that would steer you closer to the Andersen UH. Many people claim to store the hitch in the basement compartments, but you can also throw it under the trailer and perhaps chain (or cable) it to the axle or frame. There's not many other hitches that you can "easily" do that with.
To say definitively that you must have a slider when using a short bed is not reasonable. Many (if not most) people with short beds don't use a slider hitch. Its not necessary at all, though it might be more convenient for "some".
