My rail mount Andersen flipped back works great in my short bed. It won't contact at full lock going forward and I've yet to find a situation where I had to crank it enough to where it would make contact going in reverse. Just my opinion but when people crank their trailers hard enough to make contact with an Andersen flipped back, it's because they're cranking their trailers over and beyond what's necessary.
I can't speak specifically about the turnover ball Andersen, but I really like the rail mount version. I've used a Curt slider as well and I think the Andersen is far superior, both in terms of towing performance and ease of use.
