Any Ford F250 - F350 after 2011 will have the 6.7 power stroke diesel almost bullet proof. I have owned 2 7.3 ford diesels a 99 & a 2000, good engines but the newer technology had more hp/torque and better mileage.

I am thinking that job could turn into something more than the thing cost in the first place & when it is finished it will still be a 1994 unit.

Get up on the roof carefully inspect around all joints. Replace sealant as necessary. Thoroughly clean & recoat the roof with Henrys, can't remember exactly what, coating. A high solid coating. Leaking or not recoating is good prevention.

The rest of it is learn as you go. 1994, stuff is going to break. If you are not good at fixing stuff you are going to be. That is just the way it is with RVs. Something always needs attention.

OP (new to RV) is asking for suggestion on how to short term full time in a 27 year old (i.e. 1994) used trailer that he has already purchased. He is in Gold River, British Columbia, Canada. Recent weather forecast indicates night time lows -11C (10F). My suggestion is get a motel room for Feb/March. If you want to maximize your RV experience (not to mention your impress your partner) keep your learning curve for warmer weather, hopefully RV dealers/parts dept. will be more accessible to help you with any repair needs. Trust me your girlfriend will appreciate it.

I have one sitting in my driveway. 159,800 miles. No mods....ever.

Use the gvw that's on the mfgr. Tag on the left side of the rv for the towing weight requirement for the truck and figure 20% of that gvw, and add the truck cargo, hitch and passengers, for the payload weight requirement for the truck. Don't cut the weights too close when choosing the truck... leave room for good measure and a bigger rv, some day.

Or a F250 for that matter! I have a 02 F250 7.3 4door 4X4 126K miles I bought it new. I get offers at least once every couple month from people wanting to buy it and some close to 75% of what I bought it for! It's crazy what the older diesel's are selling for with low mile and good shape.

The larger truck, the easier is to pull. Try finding an F350 diesel with a 7.3. and low miles.

The truck required depends on the weight of the rv. So you need to determine that first. Be prepared for sticker shock on used trucks, especially diesels. Sometimes there is a sticker inside one of the kitchen cabinets with the weight on it. Otherwise post the model and length of the fifth wheel someone may be ab able to help
