He's got a good point ESPECIALLY if you get a 250 diesel. Then you've got just as much payload as a 150. But you do need to check license fees some places like Cal. really hammer the 1 ton trucks.
Other places like Minnesota really hammer anything smaller than a one ton. Example my one-ton is based on weight, plates cost around $150.00/yr. Ram 2500 I got rid of started at well over $500.00 a year. It was based on value.

B.O. I'm a little confused. I read this to say the Ram 2500 was valued more than the 1 ton... does not pass my logic test.
