I am in just about the same position that you are now. Hope to retire in little over a year. I have a 99 Dodge 2500 3/4 ton diesel and it just will not safely pull the size of 5th wheel I want.
Been seriously considering the Arctic Fox 29-5T that is 33'X11" long. At first we thought the 27-5L would be just right in order to get into most state campgrounds, but the wife likes the longer 29-5T unit.
1. I need to buy a different truck. Where did you purchase yours from? Note: I was thinking of buying from Dave's Smith in Kellogg, Idaho but hear they sold out to someone else and the service and buying experience is now terrible. It has been possible to save thousands of dollars by buying from him.
2. How did you decide on which package to get? I am concerned about which rear end gears to get. Dully or single rear tire truck.
3. Are you concerned about being able to get into any campground you want? We like to stay at ones that are not crowded. We are also considering a used very nice 38' unit but am worried about fitting into campsites. Also wondering about whether the slide outs will fit into sites.
Thanks for any advice.
