I agree on the Aisin, but I have towed HEAVY with 3.42's and 4.10's. The 3.42 in 5th is around 1.750 at 60mph same as the 4.10 in 6th. With the Aisin I would have ZERO issue towing up to 28K combined. Reason Aisin has lower starting gears and even at 28k the truck takes off easily on a grade. The ONLY issue I had towing 29K with my 11HO Dually was the 68RFE had too tall of starting gears. BUT once the load was rolling it performed just as good as my 15 with 4.10's towing 33k combined.
BIG bonus of the 3.42 is good towing RPM's and the best fuel economy running solo.
