Newbie question on fifth wheel hitches

Hi folks.

We are just about to purchase our first fifth wheel and I have been reading about the fifth wheel hitch mechanism and what to look for. One forum mentioned that the 'shock' on the frame/truck can be tiring and recommended the Trailer Saver TS3 or BD3 for "the best in comfort and safety for the 5th-wheeler.".

Any opinions folks?

  • Op this looks like your first post, welcome!

What truck and 5er are you considering? Once you post that you will get answers that may do you some good.

2500/3500, Long bed, short bed, Single rear wheel, dual rear wheel, length and gross weight of 5er.
  • Use TS3 and it works wonderful. Wife would NOT travel if the ride hurt her back. This air ride hitch is worth the high $$$ price.

    Safe travels.

  • I use a BD3, can't comment on any other hitches, as it is the only one we ever owned. Took a couple of trips to get the right pressure in the bags, but now I forget that is back there sometimes.

  • This the one I use Airsafe
They are a quality product plus they have more vertical adjustment than Trailsaver.

If you wish once you have the 5er towing as smooth as possible with out the fancy air hitch. If you install that hitch first it will mask the beating the 5er is still taking.
