No water pressure - bad water pump?

Hi all,
I have owned a FS 22 Weekend Warrior for 6 trouble free years. Last weekend got out to Johnson Valley and found no water pressure, no water coming out any faucet, the water pump making a faint buzzing sound , not the usual rumble of the pump. Oh yes , there's plenty of water in the tanks!

I looked online for clues , it said "check the inline filter" but honestly couldn't find anything and many of the water lines vanish into the walls and under the floor. I disconnected the two hoses to the pump, one had water , one did not. The pump just doesn't make any noise when "on" like a pump should. It just make a little faint buzz...so it's getting "some power". The two exterior bleed valves had absolutely no pressure when I opened them .

Okay so thats the "disease", any water system doctors out there? Thanks in advance!--Dave
  • Mine kinda did the same thing and it ended up being clogged check valve. good luck.
  • 1. Clogged pump filter
    2. Air in lines
    3. Low or empty fresh water tank
    4. Defective water pump.
  • Sounds like the pump motor has failed. If it was just plugged or had a bad valve, it would still run but not pump. If it was a failed switch, it wold do nothing. But a hum means it's getting power, but the motor is not turning. It's the one part that is not cost effective to replace. Hate to say it, but I think you need a new pump.
  • WW and 6 trouble free years... Mine's a money pit. Had to vent a little bit. Anyways, as posted above, take off the water line on the inlet side of the pump(side going to fresh water tank) and put your finger over it with the pump running to see if there is any suction. If there's no suction then it's a bad pump. You can also check your aerator (screen on end of faucets) to make sure they're not plugged.
  • pumps do crazy things sometimes. I had one that sucked up plastic filings from the FW tank and it was having troubles. the company sent me a new one. But after six years don't expect them to send you one. take it apart and see what is making it not pump. if the motor is not making noise it more than likely the motor and pump part is OK. for the money go buy a new pump set up and install it.
  • Is it just a 6 year old camper? That sound I would say the pump is shot if it is clear meaning that nothing is trapped in the pump not allowing it to spin freely. pull it out and take it apart worst case it you have to buy a new pump. We made the mistake of draining our water tank and forgetting to shut off the pump it ran for hours? days? and froze up only making a humming sound when on good luck to you.
  • The in-line filter is a clear strainer attached at the pump...suction side.

Do you have just one ON/OFF switch for pump? OR do you have more than one?
If more than one the pump controller may be bad.......monoplex controller

If just one switch.....check voltage to/thru switch and at pump...should be 12V DC

You can also disconnect suction line at pump..turn it on and feel if it is sucking.

Any loose fittings, hose clamps, winterizing valve open etc...anything on suction side of pump that is allowing air in then pump will not prime.
