Non-AZ resident, can we register a fiver in AZ? Should we?

We are considering buying a fiver for winter use in AZ, then storing it there in the summer.

Obviously we can register it in IL where we are residents. Does that create a problem when it is left in AZ all year? (Half at a park, half in storage.) Is this a thing that is commonly done and rarely enforced?

What is the annual registration and any other taxes for say a $20K fiver in AZ? I mean annual fees, not the initial sales or use tax on the purchase.

I'm not sure we could even register it in AZ, without having an address there at the time of purchase.

I'm trying to google up these answers but am not having as much luck as I would like.

  • Yes you can register the fiver in AZ. Mine is. I use my NY address. If you do not get an Arizona address and leave the fiver ON A LOT for the SUMMER the revenuers will most likely get you eventually. They check the parks every few years and then You would either have to pay property tax or register it. As they check only in the summer AND as far as I know storage is not checked as you are not using it.
Call the AZ DMV and ask your questions. They are one of the helpful DMV's. Good news is you can register the fiver for up to 5 years.
