I had a AF 990 camper for 8 years and now have a 27-5L fifth wheel. I have a dealer here in town but rarely had to take my camper in for service. So far, I've only taken my fifth wheel in once for some minor warranty repairs. In short, NW products are spendy, not the fanciest rigs on the road, but mine have held up very well. I bought NW because I'm not particularly "handy" and didn't want things falling apart on me when I was out and about. I've only been stuck once when my slide out bolt broke on my camper, but my cousin was nearby and easily fixed it. Other than that, they have been very reliable. From all the horror stories I've heard about other companies, I'm glad I chose what I did. Although there are always anecdotal stories to be told, I think you would probably have the odds stacked in your favor with an Arctic Fox. Oh, and for the "southerner," they take the heat as well as the cold!
I am a great handy man, but I don't want to fix something on my dime if it's on warranty.
In my research it just seems the North Wood stuff has a couple advantages for me:
1. Built like a tank. And I like tanks, I was in the 2/64 Armor.
2. You can get something on the smaller size that is still pretty fancy and very livable.
3. Customer satisfaction seems to be high.
4. They have that nice cozy throw blanket on the sofa.
I'll opt for:
1. bigger AC unit
2. 6 point leveling
3. Bigger hot water heater
4. Table and chairs
5. Bigger fridge, maybe.
