Old Stone Fort State Park, ManchesterTN

Hubby and I will be passing through Manchester TN in a couple of weeks and will need to stay overnight. In reading reviews of this park,it seems like larger rigs like mine can fit in the sites, but I am concerned about one coment saying the entrance to the campground is steep. Has anyone with a large rig, especially a fifth wheel been there? Any problem turning from the road onto the bridge and lining up with the elevated boards on the bridge? Any other info we may use would be appreciated. Thanks
  • Thanks to everyone for the info. It is much appreciated. Nice to know there are several options.
  • A few years ago we stayed at Whispering Oaks CG, Manchester. The owner has since died and I don't know who has it but here's the info:

    Whispering Oaks Campground more info?
    786 16th Model Road

At the time, it was a nice park off the interstate not far from town/Walmart/restaurants.

    On edit: here's the RVParkReviews
  • We've stayed there for an overnight with rig in sig, fiver is 35 ft. We had no problem.
  • Should you need a second choice and they have space, the KOA there is okay for a one nighter. We have stayed there several times. We have no knowledge of the state park.
  • You go across a 1-lane bridge. The road on the campground side goes up a short hill. The transition at the end of the bridge is abrupt. I could see issues with older travel trailers that sit low, or motorhomes. We have been there several times with a 5'th wheel without problem. We always stayed in the front half of the campground, shower house is in rear part. Voltage can get low, wiring is old, 30 amp. Some sites have hookups on the front side.
It's a campground that feels miles away, but it's just of the interstate
