On a properly installed hitch...

Just the geometry says some of the weight will always transfer forward, unlike a bumper pull. If the hitch is correctly installed in the bed, never ever would hitching up a 5th wheel unload the front axle. True?

Correctly installed, not enough to matter. Weight transfer to the front axle is also minimal even if a couple inches forward of the axle.
  • I'll be darned. It just doesn't look possible. But, it is what it is.
    Thanks.
  • Hitch makers have specs for the placement of their hitches on the various trucks so one size doesn't fit all. Most have the hitch directly over the rear axle which ends up slightly lightning the front axle, mine lightens the front axle by about 50LBS.
  • Can't say never because some hitches are installed behind the axle.
