Spec to Spec, the LP Onan 5500 only consumes about 25% more liquid fuel than the sister gas model. At full loads it is less than 25%. Not a big deal to some. I prefer the convenience of LP and not having to worry about gummy fuel in the spring.
Now a inverter type generator that idles down under low load can be multiple times more efficient than the Onan on a gallon of gas.
I've never been able to figure out why Onan hasn't come out with an inverter gen-pack. Personally, I think they're missing a huge market.
