Onan 5500

I recently installed an Onan 5500 gasoline generator and am on my first dry camping trip and it has quit working. It has 6 hours all from exercising. I am thinking fuel pump as I couldn't hear it when I primed it. I did check the voltage to the pump and it had 12 volts when hitting the prime button. Has anyone had similar trouble? Am I suppose to hear the fuel pump? I seem to remember hearing it prime in the past.
  • Yes the pump should click when the primer is pushed. Take the hose off of the fuel pump and direct the fuel pump into a container and push the prime button and see if it pumps fuel. Since you have a 5th wheel, what are you using for a fuel tank? Could the pickup hose be too high in the tank? How about the fuel filter, can you blow through it? Just a thought.
