Online wholesale RV dealers - any experiences?

RV Wholesalers has a good reputation on this forum. When I go to the state park camping near them we always stop in to see the units. They started off with 1 small gravel lot and few units across the street. This year I stopped in and they still have the original gravel lot but now have 2 huge paved lots across the street with a ton of rv's on them. They must be doing something right.

Our local dealers did not have the model we wanted, and the ones they had that were very similar they wanted way too much money for. I found petes rv online, and after a few days talking to them we ordered the trailer we wanted and opted to have it delivered to our house for around $400 extra. We did have a couple warranty issues come up that a local dealer fixed. We were a little nervous buying sight unseen, but petes was great to work with and gave us a great price.

Now =that's= strange. I assume you've been in contact with the mods on this. I usually run into the "site maintenance" issue at 7AM. Why can't they do this at midnight, when most of us old farts are in bed? At least post a message that the boards will be down on such-and-such day and time...

Just pulled up my big super-secret private message and tried to do a Cut-and-Paste. Big fail. Still won't work. I'm willing to send it to any of you in a PM, you can read it, and if you think it has merit, go ahead and post publicly. If not, then trash it. It describes how I went about buying from a 'wholesale' dealer.

I know this is aimed at me. Can't speak for others but . . .

For whatever reason, I am occasionally unable to post replies to some of the threads. It's very sporadic and has been going on for about a year. I draft up my reply and hit the 'post' button and then one of two things happens - The post just sits there and nothing happens or I get a weird message stating the thread is unavailable. I do not have a clue why this happens.

If I believe my post would really help the OP, I just put my post in a PM, send it to the OP, and then post a new message stating that I've sent a PM to the OP so he will know. Don't ask me why I can post a one sentence reply, but not my earlier, longer post cuz I don't know either.

Not any big conspiracy - Are you one of those people who believes in those kinds of things ?

I have been looking at new ones for almost two years now. I have had two new ones. One from a dealer 116mi and one from 47mi away from "home".
Never returned to either one.
What good is a "home" town dealer if you are 550 miles from home. Close to home and weekend camping maybe. If your retired and on the road a lot I'm starting to think money.
But hey with the dealer we would not have any thing to look at.

We bought from a dealer 1000 miles away and saved a substantial amount on the transaction.

Service is no problem. I've never been back to a dealer or service facility since purchasing the RV, but if I needed service, I prefer to utilize independent service facilities or a mobile repair service. The manufacturer has no problem with this since many/most of these RVs are sold to full-timers who don't reside close to the selling dealer.
