I have owned the goose neck hitch ever since I have had 5ers and I like it very much. With that said I have no idea how it would work on a large 5er. Like I said I have never owned a fifth wheel hitch so I can't say which one is easier or harder to hook up. I do know my gooseneck is a breeze. I have taken my 5ers to Alaska and Colorado over the Rockies into the Yukon. Over just about every extreme mountain pass in this country and a few in Canada as well I have had no problems with the gooseneck. My 5ers are rather small weighting only 9000,to 10,000lbs or so.
Hope this helps.
