Opinions: FW to gooseneck adapters?

I recently towed an older 26' Lance from PHX to Durango CO for a friend. Had a GN adapter on it; my first time. Lousy tow. Much rougher than my 29', much heavier FW with a FW hitch. Given that many mfrs will void the frame warranty if you do install a GN adapter. If you already have the GN hitch, get a FW hitch that will use the GN base or something like the Andersen Ultimate, which mounts using the GN ball. With the Andersen, you =will= need to use safety chains in most states (not all). I know AZ requires it, for sure.
