I'll let the rest discuss weight. I'll stick to size. And yes, size does matter. If you plan on only doing the private CGs 40' will be OK. They always find a way of cramming even the biggest somewhere.
If SP, NPs & NFS CGs are in your future plans then try very hard to stay below 35' or so LOA. It is not just the site length to think about but many of those older CGs have some very narrow & twisty access roads.
We are very much SP, COE, NP & NFS travelers. When 5er shopiing the ability to get into these CGs was a very high priority.
