I built this table holder to keep them separate from the chairs. My next project is going to be another shelf above the chairs for our other set of chairs.
This is awesome! Details on the build please!
I used 1/2" ply for the sides. 3/8" ply for the bottom. I used lighter 3/8" on the bottom because the weight of the tables is spread out across the whole bottom. I just glued and screwed the bottom to the sides. It's a little over 4' long to fit the 4' tables. I bought some outdoor carpet from Lowes that matched the 5'ers basement carpet really close. I used some spray adhesive with the carpet. For the front edge I welded up some 3/4" angle iron to cover the exposed edges. Also it gives the 3/8" some strength and keeps the lower edge form getting beat up when loading and unloading the tables. I used some 3/4" aluminum angle to hang it. Stuff I had laying around from previous projects. My 5'er has exposed aluminum framing so I just attached the angle to the sides of the box then used some hex headed self drilling sheet metal type screw to attach it to the 5'er framing. It was a little tricky getting the hanger supports to line up with the 5'er framing. That and contorting myself for the rear fastening. Also was a little tricky trying to hold it up too. I used a small floor jack and just lifted it up till it touched the 5'ers framing. That held it in place while I fastened everything.
It really helps to keep the tables separate form everything else. It's always a catch 22 when you need a table and no chairs and the table is under them. We pack 4 chairs with us. 2 zero recliners and 2 small sand chairs we like for sitting around the fire. I'm going to build a shelf to separate the two sets that will fit under the table holder.
It's been in there for 4000+ miles and is still solid. Not a lot to go wrong anyway.
Thank you!!! I think I'm going to try something like this!
