Out it went!

Our camping trailer came with the usual couch-which-folds-out-into-an-uncomfortable-bed.

Hardly ever did any one sit on it, and the occasional sleep-over cursed the fact if they had to sleep on it a second night.

It is big, takes up valuable room, and frankly it sucks.

Out it went! Now the camper is much more open and livable, we store a queen-sized inflatable bed underneath (much more comfortable, and goes away when not in use) for the infrequent overnight guest.

Shoulda done it years ago!
  • We are part of the partys 6, feeds 4, sleeps crowd. We don't mind sleep over visitors once in awhile but we don't wan't them to be too comfortable.

The somewhat uncomfortable fold out sofa works just fine for us.
  • we took out our couch from the slide & put our recliners there. Built a desk in backside for our computer,we don't usually have anyone stay with us except granddaughter & she just loves sleeping on the table dropped down into a bed.
  • s#it even our chairs are not that great, never mind the couch but for now the little woman likes that when she needs a little lay-down for half an hour rather than crawling into bed where she'll end up napping for a couple hours, I think I will in the next couple years buy all 3 peices new.
  • You left out the word uncomfortable between usual and couch.
  • Didn't keep any part of it in the camper. The resulting space now serves any purpose, such as put up a folding table for wife sewing, more room around the dining table when company comes, but mostly to give the living area a much more spacious feel.

Good plan. I removed the bed from the couch and tossed it. That thing is not only uncomfortable it's heavy! I kept the couch frame, put a couple plastic bins in place of the bed (storage) which double as a seat support.

Now that's a thought, too! Did you put any kind of board, etc on top of the bins so the tops won't get broken?

  • I have often thought about removing mine and replacing with recliners.
