Yes, the basements are so tall anymore, nothing seems to bother the TV flipped up. The only issue we have had is I bump it loading lawn chairs and scratch it. I just ordered an outdoor TV cover that I'll pull over it before I start loading stuff to go home.
The bracket has a gas strut that makes it as easy as a nudge to have it retract up if you need to grab anything in the basement. I flip it up even when it is on, then pull it back down after I finish in the basement.
