FWIW, I always took a different approach: If my destination was within 18 hours drive, I got up a 3:00 am and drove until I was there. If it was further than that, I'd plan on driving 10 hours a day to get there, would leave at 0600 or so so that I could stop in daylight at a campground/RV park, unhook, have a nice dinner, and pull out the next morning at 0600. I would unhook and level but not hook up facilities. Always made a point of stopping in parks with full facilities and pull throughs.
In retirement, I'll definitely be following the 2-2-2-UNDEFINED rule: 200 miles/day, stop at 2:00, stay at least 2 days, and get where I'm going by some undefined route.
