...Doors that won't stay shut during transport?...
Our previous travel trailer, Outback 298RE, had the same problem with cabinet doors popping open. We used those small bungee cords to hold them shut. My wife didn't want to use the bungee's in the new 5er so I came up with the idea of the child proof catches.
I think a couple things may be happening that causes cabinet doors to pop open. It happens when you've got a full cabinet and things move around. Something falls against the cabinet on the inside and pushes the door open.
Second, could be caused by the flexing of the camper itself.
And third, the catches are just not installed good. That's what I found out about the first cabinet door that started us down this path. After installing the child proof catches, we've not had any more problems. Doors seem to stay shut. Maybe the pop open and then slam shut again? Who knows? But at least we have confidence they are not getting caught in the slides when we extend them.
Here's an image of the types of catches on all my cabinet doors:
If they are not aligned just right, they simply do not hold. I adjusted just about all of them, but also added the child proof catches as a secondary measure... only where they are adjacent a slide out. There were 10 doors.
